In the hotel industry, engineering actions are an important part of CSR implementation. The followings are what can be done towards making a hotel “green”:
• Draft proofing the hotel structure;
• Smart control of guestroom systems;
• Use of eco-friendly boiler;
• Use of non-phosphate detergent;
• Infrared sensor control of faucets;
• Use both sides of paper in office situations wherever possible;
• Eco-friendly packaging;
• Use technological means to monitor the operation of equipment;
• Recycling, such as: paper, plastic, aluminum products;
• Strict budget for procurement to avoid wastage;
• Full use of energy-saving lamps, induction valves, energy-saving systems;
• Bedding and toiletries are all natural cotton or lined; pure plant oil soap;
• Limit the number of bathtubs in guestrooms.
